The L-3 Lightweight Data Recorder (LDR) is a small, lightweight package providing crash- 
protected recording of audio, image and flight data on small General Aviation (GA) helicopters 
and fixed-wing aircraft. Any subset of the total LDR capability can be utilized for any particular 
installation not intended for regulatory-mandated applications. While some installations may 
make use of only the audio and image recording capability, others may want to exploit the full 
audio, image, data (ARINC 717 or ARINC 429) and GPS recording.
